Mascot Naming Contest

You may already recognize the AnimeNEXT mascot, but you probably don't know her by name. That's because you haven't given her one yet! AnimeNEXT is looking for a name for our mascot, and we want your help. We?re prepared to award a three-day badge to AnimeNEXT 2007 and a contest winner announcement in the 2007 AnimeNEXT program guide to the winner. And of course, the AnimeNEXT Mascot will assume the winner's proposed name. One Lucky runner up will also receive an honorable mention in the 2007 AnimeNEXT program guide, along with an AnimeNEXT 2007 T-shirt.

Entering is simple, choose a name you think fits the mascot, and then send it to us, along with an explanation of why you chose that name. Entries should be 100 words or less, and sent to our Publicity Department via our contact form no later than midnight on January 31, 2006. Be sure to include your full name, hometown and current email address. Winner and runner up will be announced in the March 15, 2007 AnimeNEXT Electronic Update. Prizes will be awarded AnimeNEXT 2007, July 6, 2007.

With the submission of the name Minae, Kelly Johnston of Aberdeen, NJ has won our contest. The AnimeNEXT mascot will from here on be known as Minae. Kelly will also receive a three-day badge to AnimeNEXT 2007. Congratulations Kelly!

We would also like to congratulate our runner up, Michael Mercier, who submitted the name Mikuru. Michael will be receiving a free AnimeNEXT 2007 T-shirt, plus an honorable mention in our program guide. Congratulations Michael!
